Key Points:

If you are feeling the following emotions, it may be time for a new job.

  • You feel stagnant.
  • You dread going to work.
  • You feel undervalued.
  • The turnover rate is high.

At some point in everyone’s life, you’ll ask yourself if it’s time to leave your job and find a new one. But, unfortunately, most people will leave a position when they feel like they have to, which leads them to another role that may not be the best fit. Identifying early signs around you and your emotions will allow enough time to find the right job for you.

There are a couple of red flags that signal the company or position being unsuitable. The two red flags are a toxic environment and a misrepresented role. However, if you’re not experiencing either of the two red flags but still feel like it may be time for a new position, you’ve come to the right place. Figuring out when it’s time to leave your job requires a lot of reflection. So to help you, we’ve identified a few signs that it may be time for a new job.

5 Signs It’s Time For A New Job

1.   You feel stagnant. Maybe you don’t see a future at the company anymore, or perhaps you feel bored. If your day-to-day work feels monotonous, you can feel as though there’s no room for growth. Goal-achievers that are excited about new challenges wouldn’t thrive in a stagnant environment.

2.   You more often than not dread going to work. While it’s completely normal to wish for a vacation, it’s not healthy to fantasize about working elsewhere every day on your morning commute. So, if you feel like the Sunday Scaries are transforming into a deeper meaning, it’s time to evaluate whether this job or company is right for you.

3.   You feel undervalued. Maybe you are trying everything you can, and you still don’t feel the respect you deserve. You could be in a situation where positivity isn’t apparent around you, or you never receive encouragement from your supervisor. Underappreciated is an unwelcoming feeling, but it also doesn’t lead to promotions for career growth.

4.   The turnover rate is high. If your coworkers seem to be on a revolving door, it may signify that the environment does not breed career growth. A healthy place of work allows their employees to grow within their company and provide learning opportunities. When opportunities are not present to hardworking people, they will find another place to work.

5.   Your job leaves you feeling not only mentally stressed but also causes symptoms from physical stress. While sometimes it’s normal to have the jitters before a presentation, it’s not healthy to cry regularly, have sleepless nights, or even have an upset stomach regularly. First and foremost, it’s important to try natural relaxers such as exercise and essential oils. Still, if those symptoms are happening regularly, you may want to consider switching to a different role.

If you identify with one or many of the top signs that it’s time for a new job, the good news is that you are on the right path for the perfect fit. All it takes is a little bit of self-reflection and planning to find the ideal new career path.
