To keep some normalcy around here, we’ve been having virtual company happy hours via Zoom (as we’ve seen so many other companies doing to keep connected, which is just so great!). To turn things up a notch, it’s fun to make a featured cocktail. This time around, we went with the Blackberry Bourbon Smash!
It’s basically a blackberry mojito for bourbon drinkers – lime, blackberries, mint, bourbon, topped with soda water.
I typically eyeball my measurements, but here are the specs –
Ingredients
- 2 oz bourbon
- ½ oz lime juice (or 2 lime wedges, squeezed)
- 6-7 mint leaves
- 2-3 blackberries
- ¾ oz simple syrup (or 1 tbsp sugar)
- 1 oz club soda
- Cup of ice
Instructions
1 – In a shaker, combine mint leaves, squeezed lime wedges (and juice!) and blackberries. Muddle and then add bourbon, ice and simple syrup (or sugar) and shake vigorously for 10 seconds.
2 – Pour full contents into a rocks glass (no straining) and top with club soda. Stir and garnish with mint leaves and a blackberry.
These were delicious and pretty easy/simple to make! They’ll definitely make it back into rotation for future happy hours (virtual and in-office once we’re back!). Recipe originally found here.
