Position Summary
This is a position supporting vehicle fleet operations and engineering activities. The role combines fleet coordination, hands-on vehicle work, prototype support, and administrative responsibilities. The individual will help manage a wide variety of Client vehicles, including gas, hybrid, electric, production, and prototype vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Build Support
- Support engineering teams with vehicle prep, part installation, removal, and modification.
- Support engineering teams with part installations and fitment checks.
- Conduct part fitment checks and provide clear feedback on engineering issues.
- Assist in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and system-level concerns.
- Review and check parts in CAD 3D NX.
- Document installation results, fitment concerns, and engineering feedback.
- Communicate findings with engineering teams and suppliers.
- Provide technical insights during build reviews and test planning.
- Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on development and fleet vehicles.
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Assist with vehicle software updates.
- Ensure all vehicles meet safety, compliance, and OEM standards.
- Maintain accurate service, repair, and configuration documentation.
- Manage and coordinate the vehicle fleet.
- Coordinate vehicle scheduling and availability.
- Coordinate vehicle scheduling and readiness for testing and development activities.
- Track and maintain vehicle registrations, insurance, tabs, and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate vehicle deliveries to suppliers and Client facilities.
- Manage parts inventory, test components, and specialized tools.
- Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient workshop environment.
- Support test fleet with updating older vehicles with newer models and scraping of old.
- Work closely with engineering, testing, quality, and supplier partners.
- Support prototype part handling, shipping/receiving, and traceability.
- Strong automotive mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience.
- Understanding of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, and control modules.
- Experience with automotive diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with OBD diagnostics and standard automotive repair practices.
- Ability to perform part installations, fitment checks, and basic wiring modifications.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical and electronic vehicle issues.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to document issues and communicate technical findings clearly.
- Proper technical writing skills for vehicle communication/documentation.
- Ability to multitask and manage shifting priorities.
- Intermediate Skill set in NX.
- Mechanical skills required for part installation and fitment.
- Ability to multitask and manage shifting priorities.
- Experience with NX and Teamcenter.
- Experience working with prototype or development vehicles.
- Familiarity with automotive diagnostic software and tools.
- Exposure to hybrid and electric vehicle systems.
- Previous experience supporting engineering or research vehicle fleets.
- Familiarity with Client tools such as CDA/CAC, Service Library, or Star Parts.
Preferred:
- Automotive Technician Degree.
- Automotive Technical Associate Degree.
- Automotive Technical Certificate.
Experience
- Essential: 2 to 5 years' experience in Vehicle and parts management.
- Preferred: 2–5 years of relevant experience.
- Desirable: 5+ years' experience in automotive service, vehicle builds, mechanical maintenance, or engineering support.
