Title - Swiss & Lathe Setup Operator

Department: Screw Department
Location: Onsite Hamilton, OH, 45015
Shift: 4th Shift (Friday–Sunday, 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
Shift Differential: Additional $3.00/hour


Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Swiss & Lathe Setup Operator to join our Screw Department. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Swiss screw machines and multi-spindle lathe machines while ensuring production meets quality, safety, and ISO standards. This is a skilled position and is not trainable. Candidates must have prior setup experience or applicable Swiss/Lathe machining education.


Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate Swiss screw machines and multi-spindle lathe machines.
  • Load bar stock into machines and monitor production.
  • Perform tooling changes, machine setups, and necessary adjustments to maintain part specifications.
  • Fill machine fluids and remove chips to ensure efficient machine operation.
  • Inspect parts to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Troubleshoot machine and production issues as needed.
  • Assist with routine maintenance activities.
  • Train and support other operators on machine setup and operation when required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all ISO procedures, company policies, and safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of Swiss setup or Lathe setup experience OR formal Swiss/Lathe machining education.
  • Experience setting up and operating Swiss screw machines and/or multi-spindle lathe machines.
  • Ability to perform tooling changes, machine adjustments, and setups independently.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, machine drawings, and electrical schematics.
  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to perform quality inspections and maintain tight tolerances.
  • Basic math, reading, and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to follow ISO standards and all workplace safety procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience training or mentoring machine operators.
  • Manufacturing experience in a high-volume precision machining environment.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance procedures.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for 8+ hours during the shift.
  • Ability to bend, push, pull, and lift more than 30 lbs.
  • Ability to work in both hot and cold manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining attention to detail.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Swiss/Lathe machining education may be considered in place of experience.
