The MHE Equipment Installation team is responsible for building the infrastructure that makes it all possible — installing, assembling, and commissioning the conveyor systems, sortation equipment, and robotics platforms that power our fulfillment network. Once installation is complete and the site goes live, high-performing Installation Technicians may have the opportunity to transition into Reliability Maintenance & Engineering (RME) roles to maintain the equipment they built. About the Role
As a Senior Installation Mechatronics & Robotics Technician, you will lead installation crews in the assembly, integration, and commissioning of automated packaging and distribution equipment at new facilities. You will serve as the on-site technical authority for installation quality, mentor junior technicians, coordinate with OEM vendors and project managers, and drive installation schedule adherence. This role offers a potential career trajectory: after site go-live, top-performing senior technicians who demonstrate strong leadership, safety, and technical excellence will be eligible to interview for permanent Senior Mechatronics & Robotics Technician (SMRT) roles within RME. Transitioning to RME is not guaranteed and is contingent upon performance and successful completion of the interview process.
 
Key Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Promote a safe working environment by enforcing all safety procedures and conducting daily safety briefings for installation crews
• Lead and direct installation technicians in the assembly and installation of conveyor systems, sortation equipment, and robotic platforms
• Serve as the on-site technical authority for installation quality — conduct quality audits, inspections, and punch-list resolution
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot relay logic, ladder diagrams, control components, photo-eyes, motor starters, limit switches, proximity sensors, solenoids, and VFDs
• Read and interpret complex electrical schematics, P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and installation work packages; resolve design conflicts in the field
• Lead equipment commissioning activities including functional testing, system integration, and performance verification
• Create and close out installation work packages with detailed documentation including labor hours, materials used, and quality signoffs
• Develop and execute training plans for installation technicians on equipment-specific procedures and safety protocols
• Develop work plans for critical-path installation activities and coordinate schedule recovery when delays occur
• Coordinate with OEM vendors, general contractors, controls integrators, and project teams
• Maintain positive working relationships across all project stakeholders including Operations, Safety, Construction, and Engineering
• Mentor and evaluate junior installation technicians; provide performance feedback and skill development guidance
• Move up to 49lbs as well as stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation

 
Career Pathway
Upon successful completion of the installation phase and site go-live, high-performing senior technicians will be eligible to interview for permanent Senior Mechatronics & Robotics Technician (SMRT) positions within Reliability Maintenance & Engineering (RME) organization. Selection is based on demonstrated leadership during the installation phase, adherence to safety and quality standards, ability to mentor and develop team members, and successful completion of the RME interview process. This pathway is not guaranteed and is subject to business needs and individual performance.
 
Shift Information
Shift schedules and hours will be determined based on project needs and installation phase requirements. Candidates should expect:

• A full-time schedule that may include overtime depending on project milestones
• Flexibility to work weekends or adjusted hours as dictated by the construction and installation schedule
• Potential needs to flex between shifts to provide coverage across installation crews
• Shift assignments communicated prior to start and subject to change based on project demands

Specific shift times, days, and weekly hours will be confirmed during the hiring process and may vary by site and project phase.
 
Basic Qualifications

• High school or equivalent diploma
• 1+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends, overtime, and travel to project sites as needed
• 4+ years of mechanical or electrical installation or maintenance experience (MHE, conveyor systems, industrial equipment, or construction trades)
• 4+ years of reading blueprints, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings experience
• 4+ years of demonstrating safety standards in a construction or industrial environment
• 3+ years of experience installing, commissioning or maintaining material handling equipment (MHE), automated conveyor systems, or related mechanical/controls equipment

 
Preferred Qualifications

• Associates or higher degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in the Mechanical or Electrical field
• 2+ years apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the Mechanical or Electrical field
• 2+ years of experience in a lead or supervisory capacity directing installation or maintenance crews
• Experience acting in a shift lead capacity that supports, trains, and mentors less experienced technicians
• Experience with MHE safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and OSHA requirements
• Able to troubleshoot basic input and output function of building controls systems
• Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or project tracking tools
• OSHA 10 certification
• Forklift, aerial lift (scissor lift, boom lift) certification
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders (Operations, Safety, Construction, Engineering) to coordinate complex installation activities
• 4+ years of knowledge with electrical and electronic principles
• 2+ years of experience working with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based controls systems
• Experience with equipment commissioning, functional acceptance testing (FAT), and site acceptance testing (SAT)
• Project Management experience or familiarity with construction scheduling (P6, MS Project)
• Interest in pursuing a long-term career in RME maintenance
