Job Description

Title - Safety Specialist
Location: Plainfield, IN
Duration - 6 months
OT - 10 hours

Shift Schedule - FHD Sun-Wed 7:30am-6 pm

Services to Be Performed
  • Identify and communicate compliance issues, risks, and improvement opportunities through daily, weekly, and monthly safety audits.
  • Facilitate incident and accident investigations.
  • Maintain required documentation to ensure compliance with client policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Enter safety and compliance information into internal databases in a timely manner.
  • Conduct workplace observations and safety audits.
  • Train and assist Area Managers and team members in completing safety responsibilities, including audits and compliance with safety procedures.
  • Deliver job-specific safety training as assigned by management.
  • Support fire prevention, hazardous waste management, and other environmental health and safety activities as required by the business unit.
  • Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives and drive corrective actions to completion.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) role, or a bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910.
  • Professional experience using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding security and personnel-related matters.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Health & Safety or a related field.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, analytical, judgment, and customer service skills.
  • Experience leading or managing teams.
  • Ability to analyze accident data, evaluate new processes and equipment, and perform Job Hazard Analyses (JHA).
  • Experience in emergency response and possession of applicable certifications.
  • Experience with Workers' Compensation case management.
  • Passion for workplace safety and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in healthcare or industrial environments.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing Workers' Compensation cases.
