Job Description

Position Title: Repair Technician
Location: Buffalo Grove, IL (Onsite)
Duration - 9 months 
Shift: 1st Shift – 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM
Pay Rate: $17.50/hour

Position Summary

The Repair Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, testing, and inspecting a variety of printers and related devices. This position requires strong attention to detail, adherence to quality and safety standards, and the ability to perform mechanical and basic electronic repairs while meeting productivity goals.

Key Responsibilities

Repair & Diagnostic Services

  • Repair a wide range of printers, including mobile/handheld devices and large-format printers.
  • Troubleshoot customer-reported issues and perform mechanical repairs.
  • Conduct inspections, cleaning, testing, and final quality inspections.
  • Perform basic hand soldering as needed.
  • Complete repairs in accordance with established productivity and quality standards.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Accurately document all work performed, including:
    • Customer-reported symptoms
    • Symptom codes
    • Diagnostic findings
    • Reasons for parts replacement
  • Follow established work instructions and standard operating procedures.

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support process standardization and documentation updates.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve repair processes and efficiency.

Compliance & Safety

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Comply with all applicable company policies and the safety guidelines, procedures, and requirements of the assigned warehouse location.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent vocational qualification.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, reach, scoop, and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong attendance record and positive work ethic.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and support problem-solving efforts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience repairing printers, electronics, or similar equipment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with basic hand soldering.
  • Familiarity with quality standards and repair documentation processes.

Work Environment

  • Physical work requiring standing for extended periods, frequent bending, reaching, and lifting up to 35 pounds.
  • Work performed in a warehouse/repair production environment while following all safety and operational procedures.
