Position Title: Quality Control Technician
Work Location: Branchburg, NJ 08876
Assignment Duration: 4 months (possible extension- performance-based)
Work Schedule: Standard laboratory schedule
Position Summary: The Histology Technician III supports daily QC histology laboratory operations by receiving tissue samples, accessioning specimens, processing tissues, embedding, sectioning, maintaining laboratory documentation, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP). The candidate should be comfortable working in a high-volume histology laboratory with minimal supervision.
Background & Context: Supporting the QC Histology Laboratory on a temporary assignment covering an employee's leave of absence at our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
• Receive and accession tissue samples
• Enter samples into SAP
• Maintain Excel tracking logs
• Gross tissue specimens
• Tissue processing • Paraffin embedding
• Cryo embedding
• Paraffin microtomy
• Cryosectioning
• Support IHC testing preparation
• Inventory management • Chemical receipt verification
• Maintain GDP documentation • File paraffin blocks and slides
• Maintain sample traceability
Qualification & Experience:
• Histology techniques
• Sample accessioning
• SAP data entry • Excel documentation
• Tissue processing • Paraffin embedding
• Cryo embedding • Paraffin sectioning • Cryosectioning
• GDP documentation • Inventory management • Detail-oriented
• Strong documentation habits • Able to work independently
• Quick learner • Comfortable in a high-volume laboratory • Able to follow SOPs precisely
• Histology laboratories experience
• Quality Control laboratories experience
• Pharmaceutical laboratories experience
• High-volume histology environments experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Biology or related Life Science (Preferred) or Associate degree with sufficient biology coursework to qualify for Histology certification
• Histology certification (HT/HTL) or eligibility is highly preferred
• 5–10 years of Histology experience preferred; candidates with 2–5 years of experience will also be considered if they possess strong hands-on histology skills and/or certification
