  • In this role, you will hold cradle-to-grave accountability for complex utility infrastructure projects - with a primary focus on natural gas transmission, distribution, and facility systems.

  • Client Coordination & Business Development: Serve as the primary client interface. Identify expansion opportunities, lead proposal efforts (RFP/RFQ responses, cost/technical proposals, and presentations), negotiate contracts, and nurture long-term utility relationships.
  • Cross-Discipline Leadership: Direct and mentor multi-disciplinary engineering teams (civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, environmental, and permitting). Ensure efficient staff utilization and compliance with internal QA/QC standards.
  • Risk & Compliance Management: Lead internal and client-facing project risk assessments. Ensure strict compliance with federal (DOT/PHMSA), state (CPUC), and regional environmental/safety regulations.
Immediate 30-60 Day Objectives
  • Take command of active project financials, establishing tight control over budget tracking, billing, and schedule baselines.
  • Step into ongoing workflow coordination, aligning internal cross-functional engineering disciplines and subconsultants.
  • Interface directly with key utility stakeholders to confirm deliverable milestones and scope alignment.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have:
  • Professional Licensure / Certifications: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • California Utility Exposure: Direct working knowledge of major California gas utilities (e.g., SoCalGas, SDG&E, PG&E) and California regulatory/permitting frameworks (CPUC, CEQA).
  • Consulting / EPC Background: Prior consulting or EPC firm background delivering large-scale utility infrastructure.
  • Education: Master’s degree in Engineering Management, Business, or technical discipline (can substitute for 1 year of experience).
