Job Title: Portfolio Manager
Duration: 5 Months (till 12/31/2026)
Location: Mettawa, IL 60045/ Hybrid (Mondays and Fridays remote, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in office)
Work Schedule: 8-5, Monday - Friday. No overtime.

Portfolio Manager
  • Client’s Brand, Commercial Operations, and Commercial Finance organization is advancing business transformation by connecting information across Commercial Operations and Commercial Finance to better support our patients. This role offers an exciting opportunity to help shape that transformation and strengthen the way we deliver value across the organization.
  • The Portfolio Manager is responsible for developing and enabling portfolio management capabilities that align with strategic priorities and support the successful delivery of business-critical initiatives. This role establishes sustainable processes for portfolio, financial, and performance management, and helps drive continuous improvement across the organization.
  • The Portfolio Manager ensures that project management policies, procedures, and standards are clearly defined, effectively communicated, and consistently applied. In addition, this role partners closely with leaders to improve organizational maturity, strengthen decision-making, and support the execution of strategic objectives.
 
Primary Responsibilities
 
Portfolio Management:
  • Responsible for the Portfolio and alignment of Strategic Management Plans.
  • Accountable for the successful execution/delivery of the portfolio programs and projects by coordinating multi discipline (both technical and business) cross functional teams.
  • Strong cross-domain collaboration and partnership across Commercial Operations, Commercial Finance Portfolios and Enterprise PMO to ensure coordinated and consistent program delivery, share insights, identify synergies and address issues, risks, dependencies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure effective and consistent intake management processes.
  • Evaluate planned and unplanned requests across the organization, assess scope, timing and impact and manage portfolio implications accordingly.
  • Capture meeting minutes and track follow-up actions, risks, and issues through resolution.
 
Financial Management:
  • Support long-range planning (LRP) and capital planning activities for the organization.
  • Manage a detailed plan to actuals and LBE tracking for functional and capital budgets.
  • Facilitate cross account transactions.
  • Support accrual management.
 
Performance Management:
  • Partner with leadership to develop and execute QBR agenda and content.
  • Maintain a balanced scorecard to illustrate and monitor performance through relevant KPI’s.
  • Identify performance trends, capability gaps and improvement opportunities and communicate findings to executive leaders.
 
Skills/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience including project management, portfolio management, strategic planning, and KPI development reporting
  • Strong working knowledge and hands-on experience with project and portfolio management processes and tools
  • Ability to collaborate cross functionality and influence outcomes in a matrixed environment
  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives
  • Project Management experience strongly preferred
  • Experience managing large programs and projects strongly preferred
  • Experience in the Pharmaceutical industry and GxP strongly preferred
  • Experience with SAP financial modules
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes, IT industry and IT maturity models
  • Demonstrable knowledge of application development, implementation and support best practices
  • Proven ability to drive deliverables to completion and manage issues effectively
  • Ability to prepare and present executive level materials and communicate effectively with Business and IT leaders
  • Strong analytical abilities with the ability to identify trends and communicate insights clearly
  • Experience with Smartsheet or similar PPM tool experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • PMP certification preferred
