Job Title: Phlebotomist III- Float

Location: Elgin, TX (Home Base) – 200 Roy Rivers Road, Elgin, TX
Duration: 3months (Contract to Possible Hire)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1st Shift)
Work Arrangement: Onsite

This will be more of a float position. The phlebotomist will be stationed at Elgin but will float to other sites when needed (Bastrop, Smithville, etc)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and patient-focused Phlebotomist III to join the Labcorp team in Elgin, TX. This role is responsible for performing venipuncture, specimen collection, and processing while delivering exceptional patient care in a clinical laboratory setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with geriatric and hard-stick patients, be comfortable seeing occasional pediatric patients, and have the flexibility to provide coverage at the Bastrop location when needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and specimen collection on geriatric, adult, and occasional pediatric patients.

• Utilize advanced phlebotomy techniques to successfully collect specimens from hard-stick patients while ensuring patient comfort and safety.

• Perform approximately 15 patient collections per day while maintaining specimen quality and accuracy.

• Verify patient identification and accurately label all specimens.

• Process, prepare, and package laboratory specimens according to established procedures.

• Maintain accurate patient and specimen documentation using laboratory computer systems.

• Follow all laboratory safety, infection control, OSHA, and HIPAA guidelines.

• Provide outstanding customer service while ensuring a positive patient experience.

• Work collaboratively with another phlebotomist to manage daily workflow and patient volume.

• Float to the Bastrop, TX location when operational coverage is required.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Previous phlebotomy experience required.

• Strong experience performing venipuncture on geriatric and hard-stick patients.

• Comfortable performing blood draws on occasional pediatric patients.

• Experience with specimen processing and laboratory procedures.

• Basic computer proficiency.

• Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work efficiently in a collaborative clinical environment.

• Flexibility to provide coverage at the Bastrop location when needed.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working in an outpatient laboratory, physician office, or patient service center.

• Experience with high-quality specimen collection and processing.

• Strong patient interaction skills with diverse patient populations.

Work Environment

• Clinical laboratory/patient service center.

• Team-oriented environment working alongside one additional phlebotomist.

• Approximately 15 patient collections per day.

• Home base in Elgin, TX, with occasional coverage at the Bastrop location.

Vaccination & Compliance Requirements

• Negative THC screen required.

• Hepatitis B, TB, MMR, Tdap, and Varicella immunizations required.

• COVID-19 vaccination required.

• Influenza vaccination required during flu season.

• Color vision screening required.

Important Notes

• This is an onsite position based in Elgin, TX.

• Candidate must be willing to provide coverage at the Bastrop, TX location when needed.

• This is a contract position with the possibility of permanent hire based on business needs and performance.

• The opening is due to a vacant FTE position and offers an excellent opportunity to join Labcorp with long-term potential.
