Worksite: 200 Roy Rivers Road, Elgin, TX
Additional Location: May be required to cover the Bastrop, TX location as needed
Assignment Duration: 3 months
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist III to join the team in Elgin, TX. The ideal candidate will have strong phlebotomy skills, particularly with geriatric and hard-stick patients, and be comfortable working in a team-based environment.

The Phlebotomist III will perform blood collection and specimen handling while providing a positive patient experience. The position will see approximately 15 patients per day and may include some pediatric patients. The selected candidate must also be flexible to provide coverage at the Bastrop, TX location when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and blood specimen collection accurately and efficiently.
  • Work with a diverse patient population, including geriatric and hard-stick patients.
  • Collect specimens from pediatric patients as needed.
  • Properly identify patients and follow established specimen collection procedures.
  • Ensure specimens are correctly labeled, handled, processed, and prepared for transportation.
  • Maintain accurate patient and specimen documentation.
  • Provide professional and compassionate patient service throughout the collection process.
  • Work collaboratively with another phlebotomist as part of a team.
  • Manage approximately 15 patients per day while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Follow all laboratory safety, infection-control, and compliance procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Be flexible to cover the Bastrop location when needed.
  • Perform other duties related to phlebotomy and laboratory operations as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Phlebotomy experience with demonstrated proficiency in blood collection.
  • Experience working with geriatric patients and hard-stick patients.
  • Strong patient service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
  • Flexibility to work at the Bastrop location when required.
  • Ability to successfully complete required compliance screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with pediatric patients.
  • Experience working in a high-volume clinical or laboratory environment.
  • Previous experience handling difficult or challenging blood draws.
  • Experience working across multiple patient populations and locations.

Compliance Requirements

  • Negative THC/drug screen required.
  • Color vision screening required.
  • Required vaccinations/documentation include:
    • Hepatitis B
    • TB
    • MMR
    • Tdap
    • Varicella
  • Flu vaccination required during flu season; candidate may receive the vaccination when flu season begins.
