Position Title: Phlebotomist III
Work Location: Atlanta, GA 30308
Assignment Duration: 3 months
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Position Summary:

The primary function of the Phlebotomist III is to perform specimen collection, processing, and patient service activities in a fast-paced clinical environment while ensuring accuracy, quality, and excellent customer service. This role requires strong venipuncture skills, specimen handling knowledge, and the ability to work independently within a physician office or patient service center setting.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture and specimen collection on patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics.

  • Complete 40–50 blood draws daily while maintaining patient comfort and professionalism.

  • Demonstrate proficiency using straight needles and butterfly needles.

  • Process specimens including labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and packaging for transport.

  • Ensure specimens are collected, stored, and transported according to established laboratory procedures and temperature requirements.

  • Verify patient information, physician orders, and specimen labeling accuracy to ensure specimen integrity.

  • Maintain accurate patient documentation and update patient information in internal systems.

  • Provide excellent customer service while clearly explaining specimen collection procedures to patients.

  • Follow OSHA, infection control, and safety guidelines at all times.

  • Perform daily maintenance, decontamination, and quality control procedures as required.

  • Support workflow efficiency and communicate effectively with site coordinators and clinical staff.

  • Attend required departmental trainings and comply with all regulatory standards.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum 5+ years of phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced laboratory, clinic, or hospital setting.

  • Strong experience performing venipuncture on pediatric and geriatric patients.

  • Experience processing specimens and handling laboratory documentation.

  • Ability to work independently in a patient service center or physician office environment.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and laboratory systems preferred.

  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday.


Additional Details:

  • Work environment: Kauffman Clinic / Patient Service Center

  • Candidate will work independently within the clinic with support from the site coordinator.

  • Initial training will be conducted for 1–2 weeks at the Johnson Ferry location.

  • TB test required prior to start.

  • Potential for assignment extension or conversion based on performance and business needs.
