Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Phlebotomist II to join their team in a women's health medical office. This role involves specimen collection, patient interaction, specimen processing, and ensuring compliance with laboratory protocols and safety regulations.

Work Environment

  • Facility Type: Client Medical Office
  • Specialty: Women's Health
  • Daily Blood Draws: Approximately 15–20
  • Standing Requirement: 15–20 minutes per hour
  • Work Setting: Mostly working independently
  • Training: 1 week

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles.
  • Collect, label, process, centrifuge, split, freeze, and package specimens according to laboratory procedures.
  • Verify laboratory requisitions and ensure accurate specimen labeling.
  • Properly explain specimen collection procedures to patients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Update patient information and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Store specimens at the required temperature to maintain specimen integrity.
  • Perform equipment maintenance, decontamination, and record maintenance logs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DEP, and laboratory safety regulations.
  • Attend required annual departmental training.
  • Respond to telephone inquiries and communicate laboratory results as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2–4 years of phlebotomy experience.
  • Minimum 6 months of recent experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital environment.
  • Valid Phlebotomy Certification where required by state regulations.
  • Experience with specimen processing and laboratory procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent patient communication and customer service skills.
