Phlebotomist

Location: 50 Medical Park Dr. E., Birmingham, AL 35235
Assignment: 3 Months
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:00 AM–11:30 AM
Interview: Phone interview – 1 round

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to support laboratory operations at UAB St. Vincent’s East. The primary responsibility will be assisting with morning rounds and timed, STAT, and routine specimen collection rounds throughout the assigned shift.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and blood specimen collection during morning, timed, STAT, and routine rounds.
• Properly identify patients and follow established specimen collection procedures.
• Ensure specimens are accurately labeled, handled, and transported according to laboratory requirements.
• Complete required documentation accurately and timely.
• Follow laboratory safety, quality, and infection-control procedures.
• Communicate effectively with laboratory and healthcare staff.
• Maintain a professional and patient-focused approach during specimen collection.
• Support other laboratory activities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Previous phlebotomy experience is required.
• High School Diploma required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital laboratory environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be comfortable working the 3:00 AM–11:30 AM shift.

Medical Screening
