Position: Phlebotomist II
Location: Jenks, OK 74037 (220 S Elm St – Onsite)
Duration: 3+ Months
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM (40 hours/week)
Employment Type: Full-Time | Contract-to-Hire Potential
Job Details
- Patient Volume: Approximately 15 patients per day
- Patient Population: All age groups
- Work Environment: Patient Service Center (PSC); fast-paced, collaborative setting
- Training: Department onboarding and annual compliance training
- Standing Requirement: Must be able to stand for extended periods during the shift
- Floating: May be required to float to nearby Labcorp locations as needed
- Travel: None
- Special Requirement: Color vision is required
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and specimen collection using straight and butterfly needles
- Collect blood, urine, and other specimens following established laboratory procedures
- Label, centrifuge, split, freeze, package, and prepare specimens for transport
- Verify laboratory requisitions and ensure specimen accuracy before processing
- Explain specimen collection procedures clearly and professionally to patients
- Maintain specimen integrity by following temperature and handling requirements
- Record equipment maintenance and perform decontamination procedures
- Update patient information accurately in laboratory systems
- Comply with OSHA, DEP, and all laboratory safety regulations
- Answer telephone inquiries and communicate laboratory information as appropriate
- Participate in required departmental training and quality initiatives
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 6 months of recent phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced laboratory, hospital, or Patient Service Center (PSC)
- Experience performing venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles
- Experience with specimen processing, including labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting/splitting, freezing, and packaging
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and proper specimen handling procedures
- Comfortable working in a collaborative team environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Phlebotomy Certification (where required by state law)
- Color vision required
Preferred Qualifications
- Pediatric phlebotomy experience
- Strong patient service and communication skills
- Experience working with patients of all ages
