Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:30 AM–5:00 PM

Job Summary
The main function of a Phlebotomist is to assist with various assigned duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make workflow recommendations.
Position Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws and specimen collection.
- Label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.
- Perform decontamination and update patient information.
- Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
- Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture/blood-drawing process and other specimen collection procedures, such as urine or fecal collection, as required.
- Demonstrate proper techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Review and understand physicians’ orders.
- Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
- Verify all test requisitions and computer labels against the appropriate script to ensure accuracy.
- Package specimens for transportation.
- Store specimens at the required temperature and place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes.
- Accurately label specimens and follow protocol-specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transportation.
- Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department training sessions.
- Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results to satisfy inquiries, as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, where required.
- Minimum of 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 0–2 years of relevant experience.
