Job Description
Job Title: Phlebotomist I
Duration: 2 Months
Location: Mobile, AL
Work Setting: Onsite – Hospital
Schedule: 3rd Shift (8:00 PM – 6:30 AM, Monday–Friday)
Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles.
- Collect blood and other specimens (urine, fecal, etc.) following established procedures.
- Draw blood from hospitalized patients by visiting patient rooms.
- Work with patients across all age groups, including pediatric, adult, geriatric, and hard-stick patients.
- Label, centrifuge, split, freeze, and package specimens for transport.
- Verify physician orders and laboratory requisitions for accuracy.
- Maintain specimen integrity by following proper storage and transportation procedures.
- Update patient information and documentation accurately.
- Perform equipment maintenance, decontamination, and record maintenance data.
- Answer phone calls and communicate laboratory information as appropriate.
- Follow OSHA, DEP, and all laboratory safety regulations.
- Attend required department training sessions.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 6 months of recent phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced hospital or laboratory setting.
- Experience performing venipuncture independently using straight and butterfly needles.
- Experience drawing blood from pediatric through geriatric patients, including hard-stick patients.
- Comfortable walking throughout the hospital and visiting patient rooms.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- State Phlebotomy Certification (where required).

- TB
- MMR

- Varicella
- Negative THC drug screen required.
- Flu vaccination required.
- COVID-19 vaccination not required.
- No color vision screening required.
