Job Description:
Network Administrators are the backbone of an organization's IT infrastructure. They are responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network systems, ensuring that internal and external communications are efficient, secure, and robust.
Core Responsibilities
Network Infrastructure Management
Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless networks
Manage LAN, WAN, intranets, VPNs, and MPLS circuits
Monitor network performance and ensure high availability and uptime
Apply patches, firmware updates, and maintain hardware inventory
Plan and execute network changes via formal change control processes
Cloud & Hybrid Networking
Manage cloud networking on AWS VPC, Azure Virtual Network, and Google Cloud
Oversee SD-WAN deployment and cloud-based SaaS integration
Ensure reliable, secure connectivity for remote and distributed workforce
Support hybrid cloud environments across on-prem and cloud-hosted workloads
Configure and optimize cloud-native firewall and network access policies
Security & Zero Trust
Implement and maintain Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) policies
Manage firewall rules, IDS/IPS, and network access control (NAC) systems
Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and patch management cycles
Monitor for threats using SIEM tools; coordinate incident response
Enforce SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) frameworks for distributed users
Support compliance with ISO 27001, NIST, SOC 2, and GDPR requirements
Monitoring, Observability & AIOps
Deploy and manage network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Datadog, Grafana)
Perform proactive capacity planning and bandwidth trend analysis
Use AIOps platforms for predictive fault detection and auto-remediation
Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and configuration baselines (CMDB)
Generate weekly/monthly SLA and performance reports for stakeholders
Incident & Problem Management
Act as the first responder for network incidents (P1/P2 SLA adherence)
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and post-incident reviews
Maintain and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans
Collaborate with NOC, SOC, and service desk for end-to-end incident resolution
Document known errors and workarounds in the knowledge base
Technical Skills
Routing & Switching: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, VLANs, QoS
Firewall & VPN: Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA, IPSec, SSL VPN
Cloud Networking: AWS / Azure / GCP networking fundamentals
Scripting & Automation: Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, Terraform
Wireless: Wi-Fi 6/6E, controller management, site surveys
Monitoring & Logging: SNMP, NetFlow, Syslog, SIEM integration
Security Frameworks: Zero Trust, NIST CSF, ISO 27001, SOC 2
ITSM: ITIL v4, ServiceNow, change & incident management
Soft Skills
Analytical Thinking: Diagnose complex, multi-layer network issues quickly
Communication: Translate technical issues for non-technical stakeholders
Attention to Detail: Config errors can cause major outages — precision is critical
Proactive Problem Solving: Identify risks before they become incidents
