Position Title: Medical Lab Scientist II
Work Location:  5005 S 40th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85040
Assignment Duration: 3+ months 
Work Schedule: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Vaccine requirements: Hep B offered- declination accepted.
Medical Screening: Color Vision Screening.
 

Position Summary

Responsibilities are interchangeable within job titles of Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist, or Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Work environment/department details will be listed within the specific requirement. This role is responsible for determining the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures

  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality

  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving

  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls

  • Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care

  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures

  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary

  • Assist with specimen processing when needed

  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or equivalent education meeting local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements

  • Minimum 2–4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience required

  • State Medical Technologist license may be required depending on assignment

  • ASCP or AMT certification preferred or required depending on assignment

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

  • Proficient with computers; laboratory information systems experience preferred

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screening

  • Flexibility to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Must be active throughout the shift with frequent walking and movement

  • Comfortable working in cold walk-in environments

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory setting

  • Must maintain speed and accuracy while processing tubes and specimens

  • Strong time management skills required to handle multiple priorities and workflow demands
