Job Title: Controls Engineer 3
Location: Redford Township, MI 48239 (Detroit Manufacturing Plant)
Duration: 18 Months
Shift Type: 
Third Shift 11pm-7am ( Sunday Night to Friday Morning)

Note: Every other weekend – work either Saturday or Sunday OT

Summary:
The main function of a Controls Engineer 3 is to design, develop, and maintain automated control systems to ensure efficient and reliable operation of machinery and processes within an organization. A typical Controls Engineer is responsible for programming, troubleshooting, and optimizing control systems to meet production and safety requirements.

Job Responsibilities:
• Design and implement control systems for industrial equipment and automated processes.
• Develop and modify PLC, HMI, and SCADA programs to support manufacturing operations.
• Configure and integrate sensors, actuators, and other control devices into systems.
• Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and debugging to ensure proper functionality.
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineering teams to integrate control solutions.
• Maintain documentation for control systems, including wiring diagrams and program logic.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements in all control designs.
• Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations teams.

Skills:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and analytical thinking.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar platforms).
• Experience with HMI/SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus).
• Experience with Siemens Software/hardware including 840D, Step 7, TIA Portal
HMI's: PCU50's
• Knowledge of electrical schematics, instrumentation, and control theory.
• Familiarity with industrial automation standards and safety regulations.
• Previous experience with troubleshooting and maintaining automated systems.

Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related discipline required.
• 5-7 years of experience in controls engineering or industrial automation (internship experience preferred).
• Knowledge of CAD software and Microsoft Office applications is a plus.
