Job Title: Engineering Contractor
Duration: 3 Months (Summer Contract)
Location: Abernathy, TX

Overview
We are seeking 3–4 motivated junior-level candidates or interns with an engineering background to support a construction project through detailed reporting and analysis. This role will focus on tracking daily field activity, validating productivity, and supporting cost oversight efforts.The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of engineering concepts and the ability to translate field observations into structured reports that support leadership decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and document daily construction site activities
  • Prepare detailed reports based on field observations, superintendent inputs, and project drawings
  • Compare actual work completed against expected productivity benchmarks
  • Assist in identifying discrepancies in vendor performance and potential cost overruns
  • Translate field-level findings into clear, actionable reports for leadership teams
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Escalate inconsistencies or issues identified during reporting
  • Fast-paced, learning-driven environment with direct visibility into project execution and decision-making
Ideal Profile:
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering (preferred)
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, field activities, and technical information
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present findings
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally between field teams and leadership stakeholders
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify discrepancies, trends, and potential issues
  • Proactive, dependable, and able to manage tasks in a fast-paced project environment
  • Open to entry-level or early-career candidates
?Preferred Skills and Qualifications: 
  • Prior exposure to construction sites, fieldwork, or project environments (internships or coursework)
  • Basic understanding of project reporting, productivity tracking, and cost analysis
  • Ability to “speak the language” of engineering and effectively communicate with technical teams
  • Familiarity with interpreting plans, drawings, and site progress updates
