Position Title: Electro/Mechanical Assembler II
Work Location: Newark, DE 19702
Assignment Duration: 6 Months
Work Schedule: Second Shift 3PM-11:30PM M-F (Training on First Shift 6AM-2:30PM for first 3-6 weeks)
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Position Summary:
Performs a wide variety of electronic, electro-mechanical, mechanical or measurement product assembly operations on product components, assemblies, or sub-assemblies. Determines and/or follows methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component installation, hand soldering, cable harnessing, welding, and fitting on assembly units.
Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for building, testing and inspecting electro-mechanical assemblies per specification. May involve system level assembly and sub-assembly test.
• Assembles sub-assemblies and system level hardware
• Performs in process sub-assembly testing of product being manufactured, when required
• Completes Device History Record data
• Performs assembly and test requirements for reconditioned hardware, when required
• Perform packaging functions in Instruments Manufacturing, when required
• Maintain compliance with policies QSR, ISO, EH and S
• Proficiency with basic hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, torque tools, terminal crimpers, and soldering irons.
• Ability to follow written instructions such as assembly procedures, test procedures mechanical assembly drawings.
• Experience with basic mechanical inspection equipment such as calipers and indicators.
• Experience with basic electrical test equipment such as multimeters.
• Supports the day-to-day operations of manufacturing and service support to forecast, and regulatory compliance and policies QSR, ISO, EH and S
• Provides training as needed.
• Participates in the reduction of risk and injury in the workplace by identifying risks and implementing controls to eliminate or minimize risk.
• Supports internal departmental audits of manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with policies QSR, ISO, EH and S. Perform other duties as required.
• Maintain and promote a safe work environment at all times. Identify, address, and react to any unsafe or hazardous situation.
• Responsible for meeting quality, efficiency and safety requirements and standards.
• Organizes and verifies all components prior to completing assembly operations.
• Assembles moderately complex sub-assemblies and final assemblies following all applicable procedures and documentation.
• Executes moderately complex soldering operations as required per IPC standards.
• Read and interpret moderately complex schematics and blueprints required to ensure proper assembly.
• Utilize moderately complex mechanical tools, electrical tools, measurement devices, soldering equipment, crimpers, and other hand tools.
• Completes all quality and assembly documentation required for functional area and in alignment with quality management system requirements.
• Consistently able to meet standard cycle time for production.
• Able to apply working knowledge of test equipment required within Operations area independently.
• Report all non-conformances to Team Lead or Supervisor and complete NCEs as appropriate. Review non-conforming materials for accuracy.
• Ensure that processes are executed in a manner which supports all Quality Standards.
• Perform root cause investigations with Operations team utilizing intermediate troubleshooting tools.
• Perform process validations as required and suggest process improvements to Team Lead or engineering team.
• Able to complete simple redlines to documentation in alignment with engineering direction.
• Active participant in managed daily improvement process and contributes to MDI discussions within areas of expertise.
• Maintain and execute 5S within work area.
• Complete all training requirements in a timely manner and maintain accurate training records.
• Conduct inventory transactions to maintain integrity of inventory system.
• Timely and complete processing of work order transactions utilizing Oracle system.
• Utilize Oracle and Agile to retrieve necessary documentation and ensure accurate information.
• Maintains data entry tools and completed material order independently.
• Regular and punctual attendance. Ability to adhere to standardized production schedule for position and ability to work overtime to support production needs as necessary.
Qualification & Experience:
• Preferred Minimum Non-Technical Degree: High School (H.S./GED) or Associate Degree
• Preferred Minimum Non-Technical Degree: 1-2 Years
• Experience with Oracle ERP system or Agile Product Lifecycle Management system is beneficial.
• Proficient working understanding of Microsoft Office platform including Excel, Word, SharePoint, and OneDrive required.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow all written procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
• Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
• High-level of attention to detail and focus on quality.
• Detail oriented and accurate.
• Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
• Trained to execute 3-4 roles within the Operations team.
• Certified as a Subject Matter Expert for 1+ roles within the Operations team.
• IPC 610 / 620 Certification is beneficial.
• Knowledge of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) handling best practices is beneficial.
• Must follow all applicable FDA regulations and ISO requirements.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands (If Applicable):
• Sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Lifting/moving and carrying products weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration and/or moderate noise levels.
• Exposure to hazardous chemicals or other materials.
• Safety Shoes with Impact and Compression Protection Must be worn in designated areas.
• Other: high voltage electronics, radiation. Ability to work in clean room, controlled environment, and/or dark room.
