Position Title: EHS & Facilities Coordinator
Work Location: Seattle, WA
Assignment Duration: 6 months (with possibility for extension)
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Position Summary:
- We are seeking a detail-oriented & hands-on EHS & Facilities Coordinator. In this role, you will bridge the gap between facility maintenance and safety compliance.
- The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, genuinely enjoys wearing many hats, and excels at balancing physical building needs with strict safety compliance. This role is 100% on-site M-F with occassional weekend and evening work required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dangerous Goods Shipping: classify, package, mark, label, and document all outbound dangerous goods and hazardous materials in strict accordance with DOT, IATA, and IMDG regulations.
- Hazardous Waste: assist with the accumulation, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste. Prepare and sign uniform hazardous waste manifests in compliance with RCRA and EPA guidelines.
- Spill Response Team: serve as an active, trained member of the on-site Emergency Spill Response Team. Participate in emergency drills, maintain and restock spill kits, and safely respond to incidental chemical or material releases.
- Compliance & Auditing: assist with maintaining accurate safety logs, chemical inventories (SDS), and regulatory documentation. Conduct routine inspections of hazardous waste storage areas (e.g., satellite accumulation areas).
- Building Operations: serve as the point of contact for day-to-day facility maintenance issues
- Vendor Coordination: source, schedule, and oversee contractors for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, janitorial, and general building repairs.
- Safety Infrastructure: inspect and maintain critical facility safety equipment, including eyewash stations, safety showers, fire extinguishers, and emergency exits.
- Space Coordination: assist with internal office moves, furniture setups, and general organization/upkeep of common areas and loading docks.
- Other roles and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualification & Experience:
- Desired Certifications (or willingness to obtain immediately upon hire): DOT HazMat (49 CFR) certification for ground transport. RCRA Hazardous Waste Management certification. HAZWOPER 40-Hour certification (or current 8-hour refresher). IATA / IMDG certifications for air/ocean shipping.
- 3+ years of experience working in a facility maintenance, logistics, or EH&S role.
- Strong working knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to pivot quickly from physical tasks to detailed paperwork.
- Comfortable working on your feet and safely lifting up to 50 lbs.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset—someone who sees a facility issue and takes immediate ownership.
