Job Description

Title - CNC Setup Operator 1st Shift
Department: Machine Center Department
Duration - 12 Months
Location - Hamilton OH, 45015
Pay Rate: $22-$24/hr.
2nd/4th Shift Differential of $3.00/hr

Hours:1st shift 6am-4pm (MON-THUR, availability to work overtime on Fridays)
Must have CNC "Setup" experience to be considered for position
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate any and all CNC lathes and mills in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Callup programs and set-up tooling for CNC lathes.
  • Edit CNC lathe programs, as necessary.
  • Measure parts and make tool corrections as CNC lathe is running production
  • Instruct less skilled employees in the operation or set up of any CNC lathes and mills.
  • Perform inspections of parts using precision measuring instruments.
  • Perform daily upkeep and routine maintenance, keeping equipment and production area in good working order.
  • Ensure that correct cutting insert is used for type of material
  • Follow instructions; written and/or verbal; from the production supervisors.
  • Produce 100% high-quality, high-volume parts, with emphasis on reducing cycle time.
  • Ensure that all parts are cleaned, counted, de-burred, assembled and handled properly.
  • Comply with and support all aspects of the companys quality management program.
  • Inventory and document tooling and inserts.
Skills and Experience
  • Technical College or Equivalent Experience
  • 1+ years of experience operating, setting up, and programming CNC mills and manual milling equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings and product specifications.
  • Ability to use gages and measuring instruments such as micrometer calipers, etc.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel within operation.
  • Ability to read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
  • Ability to perform simple arithmetic.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
  • Reading, math, and communication skills equivalent to a high school education and one or more years of related experience, or equivalent.
Preferred Skills:
  • Language Skills - Good communication skills are key. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Mathematical Skills- Ability to work with mathematical concepts.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Need to be able to exercise good judgment and decision-making skills. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have Other Skills and Abilities - Must be detail oriented. Must be organized and have the ability and drive to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
