Our Client is seeking a Business Segment Director to oversee a portfolio of space programs delivering mission-critical solutions across data networking, data transport, cybersecurity, cryptography, and secure communications for national security applications. This leader will be responsible for the growth, operational execution, and financial performance of a high-value portfolio supporting satellites, space missions, and national systems.
This role requires a proven defense or aerospace leader with experience managing complex development and production programs, leading large technical teams, driving business growth, and maintaining strong customer relationships in highly classified environments. The ideal candidate brings expertise in space systems, high-assurance security solutions, and strategic business leadership within defense contracting.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee a portfolio of mission-critical space programs supporting data networking, cybersecurity, cryptography, and secure communications solutions
- Drive business growth through new contract awards, adjacent opportunity identification, and strategic business development initiatives
- Manage successful execution of complex, high-value development and production programs
- Develop and execute short- and long-term business strategies aligned with organizational objectives
- Lead cross-functional teams and foster collaboration across technical, operational, and executive stakeholders
- Build and maintain trusted customer relationships while ensuring high customer satisfaction and strong program performance
- Oversee financial performance, operational metrics, and business measurements to ensure profitability and execution success
- Partner internally and externally to deliver mission-critical solutions and maximize business impact
- Lead organizational change management initiatives and drive continuous improvement
- Navigate matrixed organizations and highly complex classified environments to deliver results
- 15+ years of demonstrated leadership experience, preferably within defense contracting, aerospace, or national security environments
- Proven experience managing high-value, complex development and production programs
- Strong experience with satellites, space systems, avionics, cryptographic solutions, networking, or high-assurance security systems
- Experience supporting national systems, classified programs, or compartmented efforts
- Demonstrated business leadership experience including program execution, strategy development, financial management, and business development
- Proven track record of growing business and capturing new opportunities/contracts
- Strong customer relationship management and executive stakeholder engagement experience
- Experience leading teams through organizational change and scaling technical organizations
- Strong financial acumen with operational metrics, business reporting, and P&L-related oversight
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Established relationships within Space, Avionics, Cryptography, or Networking communities
- Experience with Agile development environments
- Experience running a business segment, business area, or highly complex defense programs
- Experience applying AI-driven continuous improvement and innovation initiatives
- Strong strategic mindset with the ability to execute tactically in ambiguous environments
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Onsite role based in Scottsdale, AZ
- Travel required on an occasional basis
- Must possess an active TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph at time of hire
- Aerospace / Defense industry experience strongly preferred
- Leadership role overseeing highly classified national security and space mission programs
