Job Summary
The Build Master will be responsible for managing GitLab, source code repositories, CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, and software release processes. This role will work closely with development, QA, infrastructure, and operations teams to ensure efficient and reliable software delivery.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with GitLab administration, CI/CD pipeline management, source code governance, release automation, and scripting.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain GitLab, including repositories, groups, permissions, branching strategies, and merge request processes.
- Manage and optimize CI/CD pipelines supporting automated builds, testing, deployments, and release management.
- Oversee source code management, repository governance, version control standards, and code promotion processes.
- Coordinate and manage code merges, branching, tagging, and release activities across multiple development streams.
- Monitor build health, pipeline performance, and deployment success rates.
- Troubleshoot and resolve build, pipeline, and deployment issues.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
- Improve build, deployment, and overall operational efficiency through automation.
- Collaborate closely with development, QA, infrastructure, and operations teams to streamline software delivery.
- Establish and enforce best practices for code management, release processes, and DevOps standards.
Required Qualifications
- 11+ years of overall experience in Build Engineering, DevOps, Release Engineering, or related areas.
- 5+ years of GitLab administration and source code management experience.
- 5+ years of CI/CD pipeline design and release automation experience.
- 5+ years of scripting and automation experience with Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar technologies.
- Strong understanding of Git workflows, branching strategies, merge requests, tagging, and repository governance.
- Experience troubleshooting build and CI/CD pipeline issues.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across development and infrastructure teams.
