Title: Administrative/Clerical - Group Fitness Instructor
Location: Jacksonville, FL 32246
Duration: 6-month assignment | Part-Time

JOB SUMMARY
The Part-time Recreation Assistant will provide support at both the fitness center and athletic fields, assisting with daily operations, customer service, and program coordination. This role will work closely with the Fitness Center Manager and the Athletic Fields Manager to ensure a high level of customer service and program quality.
Essential Functions
1. Provide exceptional customer service to members and guests at both the fitness center and athletic fields, using a personalized approach.
2. Assist with daily operations, including:
  • Greeting members and guests, directing them to specific destinations, and responding to suggestions, concerns, and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Supporting the setup and supervision of athletic programs and events, such as intramural sports and fitness classes.
  • Assisting with equipment maintenance and inventory management.
3. Assist with program coordination, including:
  • Supporting the planning and execution of events and programs at the fitness center and athletic fields.
  • Assisting with marketing and promoting programs to members and guests.
4. Activate emergency action plans and administer first aid as necessary.
5. Provide proactive supervision of members and guests at the fitness center and athletic fields, ensuring a safe and effective environment.
6. Assist with data entry, record-keeping, and other administrative tasks as needed.

Required Education
  • Education Level: Highschool diploma or GED
  • Not required but nice to have - possess current CPR/AED certification.

Essential Knowledge and Experience:
  • Currently enrolled in or completion of a degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field.
  • 0-1 year of experience in a fitness or recreation setting (or equivalent experience).
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Valued but Not Required Knowledge and Experience:
  • Experience with intramural programs and scheduling.
  • Certification in a fitness-related field (e.g., personal training, group fitness).

What is the expected number of working hours per week for this part-time position?
20-25 hours per week
What are the typical shift timings and workdays?
Monday-Friday – Daily hours of shift would be flexible based on need and employee preference.
Is the schedule fixed or variable based on needs?
Fixed, with occasion variations for special events or other employee absences.
Are evening, weekend, or holiday shifts required?
No weekends or holidays. Some evenings would be required.
Is there potential for additional hours?
I could see occasional opportunities for 25-30 hours a week, but it would generally be in the 20-25 range.

In Regard to converting to FTE. They would like to do that however it really will be dependent on budget.
Extension would be more likely until budgets are finalized next year.
